Nami and Poppie

Here's a photo of Nami and Poppie. They are mommy's mommy and daddy and live in St. Louis. They have two little dogs. Rose and Skye. I love to chase them but sometimes they like to chase me. They also have a kitty that looks just like Phoebe! They're the best!

We're going to Nami and Poppie's for Thanksgiving

This entry is from Mommy:

Scene Opens: Handsome man walks into a darkened bedroom, turns on the light, and sits on the edge of a bed where a pretty little girl sleeps.

Daddy: (sweet and tender voice) Good morning sweety... it's time to get up to go to school...

Amelia: (sniff, sniff) No... (tears)... I don't want to go to school. I want to go see Nami and Poppie. (Continues to cry while being comforted by daddy)

(Enters Mommy)

Mommy: Oh sweety, we're leaving tomorrow to see them, but you need to go to school today.

Amelia: (pulls covers up over head) NOOOO!!! I don't want to go to school. I WANT TO GO TO NAMI AND POPPIE'S HOUSE! (major tears)... Mommy... I need a hug.

SANTA IS COMING!!!

On Saturday we went to watch Santa turn on the lights of a really big Christmas tree. There were lots of other people there too.

But before we met up with Auntie Aya, Uncle Eric and the babies, I got to write a letter to Santa to ask him for a special present! Now, trying to figure out what to ask for from Santa is a really important thing. And REALLY hard! What do you ask for? What do you wish for? You don't want to get it wrong! Mommy helped me write it.

I'm sure he got my letter. He was there to light the tree and I'm sure he took my letter with him back to the north pole. Mommy says that after we get back from visiting Nami, Poppie, Auntie Sammy, Uncle Joel, and Allison we can make our house pretty for him (and baby Jesus of course!).

Here I am writing my letter.

Mommy and I finished my letter. I did the "A" all by myself.

I'm putting my letter in the big big red mailbox.

I had to check to make sure that it went in. Whew. It did.

After Santa turned the lights on the tree he set off lots of fireworks. Just like at Disneyland!! When the fireworks ended we went to dinner, and then I got to try hot chocolate. You know, hot chocolate isn't really very hot, but it sure is yummy. It tastes just like candy! I got it all over my face but it was well worth the mess!

Horseback Riding

Over the summer Sydney and I got to go on a horsey! It was so cool! The horse was so big that Sydney's daddy had to lift me onto her back. Then the lady who takes care of the horsey pulled us around the field. It was great! I was so high up I could see EVERYTHING! Then Sydney and I got to go on the horsey together! I didn't want to get down. Maybe I'll get to go again, but next time I want to go on a big horsey like the one I saw when we visited Grandma and Grandpa in California. That horsey was so big I don't think daddy could have climbed on him. I'll ask mommy if she can find a photo so you can see him!

I wonder if Oodle would have been scared to go on the horse. I bet little Maxie would have loved it. She would have howled away with happiness! Big Max probably would have chased the horsey. He's so crazy!

My Cousins

I just wanted to show you a photo of me and my cousins. Allison is a big girl... she's 10 years old! Anderson and Emery are still babies... they're almost 7 months. They're little right now but getting bigger every moment. I can't wait for them to be big enough to play in my playroom. I know that Emery will love playing dress up with me. She can be Aurora and I'll be Belle. Anderson can be a prince. I've even got a sword for him when he's big enough. Or maybe he'll dress up as Cinderella as my friend Reagan did at my birthday party!

I love them so much and can't wait to see Allison next week in Missouri!

Sally's Caterpillar and Amelia's Caterpillar

I remembered one other book I love!!

Sally's Caterpillar by Anne Rockwell

It is a really great story of a little girl who finds a caterpillar on a plant and takes care of it until it turns into a butterfly. My mommy said that she used to read it when she was a little girl. She loved the story so much that she decided to plant special flowers in our front yard so we could grow caterpillars just like Sally.

Last summer we found a caterpillar named Cate on a milkweed leaf in our front yard. Mommy carefully brought her inside and each day I fed her fresh leaves. Slowly she got REALLY fat. I mean big big big. I bet she was as big as my finger. Maybe even bigger. Then one day she climbed up to the top of its house and somehow attached itself to the roof! I'm not sure how it did it but it was attached by what seemed to be a tiny string. I wonder if I could do that? Sometimes I hang upside down off the couch but I start to feel really silly. That night I went to sleep worried that something was wrong with Cate. I told Mommy and Daddy and they said that she was probably fine and we'd check on her in the morning.

So the next morning I got up, went downstairs and she was GONE. In the place where she was hanging upside down there was a strange green blob instead. I got really sad but Daddy said that Cate was INSIDE the blob. I couldn't believe it! Daddy said that we'd have to watch the blob every day and in a few weeks Cate would change again. So everyday I checked on her. Finally, one day I looked inside her house and she had changed colors! In the night she had changed from GREEN to BLACK!! Oh no!! I wondered wha
t could have happened???

Then... if you can believe it... when I got home from school she was gone again! In her place this time was a beautiful butterfly. It was black and orange. Mommy and Daddy said that it WAS Cate. She had turned from a caterpillar into a butterfly while she was inside the green blob. I'm not sure how that happened but it was so great. We took her outside and Mommy carefully reached into her house and pulled her out. She hung out with us for a while... sitting on mommy's shoulders and then she flew away! We still see her around our house and each time I try to get as close as I can so I can say hi. But she seems to be busy inspecting the flowers. I also think she's a mommy! We've had lots of baby caterpillars since Cate and they all end up looking just like her!

Ok, so there's my story of my good friend Cate!

Some of my Favorite Stories

Here's a list of some of my favorite stories:

  1. Madeline (especially Madeline’s Rescue) by Ludwig Bemelmans

  2. Lovely Ruby and the Mermaid by Nancy Trott

  3. The Silver Slippers by Elizabeth Koda-Callan

  4. Little Bears Friend by Else Minarik

  5. Jamberry by Bruce Degan

  6. Aurora – The Friendship of Fairies by Walt Disney

I love the story about Madeline so much that I got my hair cut just like hers. I’ve included a photo for you to see. I think mommy and daddy like the Madeline story too. They named their cat after her. She’s a BIG black and white kitty, and is so big that when she sits on me she squishes me and makes it hard to breath.

Go Eaters!!

Yesterday Mommy, Daddy, Uncle Eric, Auntie Aya and I went to watch a basketball game! Mommy and Daddy's school (UCI) played the Longhorns. We usually root for the Longhorns but since mommy and daddy went to UCI we got all dressed to cheer them on. Daddy and Uncle Eric's shirts had an anteater on it. I have a UCI pink shirt that says UC Irvine Girl and a blue sweatshirt that says UC Irvine. I told mommy that I wanted to wear my pink shirt and my hook em' horns dress but she said that would be silly. I'm not sure why. It would have been great to cheer for both teams but mommy said we had to root on the Anteaters.

The game was awesome! Every time the Anteaters came on the court we all cheered and I would tell mommy and daddy that the Anteaters were here! We got to sit with the players families so it was really neat knowing that there were other mommies and daddies all around us.

Mommy brought a whole bunch of stuff for me to do. She brought my puppies (Genevieve and Scotty), coloring books, some stories, and some snacks. I had the most fun watching the game. One time, when it was really quiet, mommy and I yelled out "Go Eaters!" I'm sure everyone there heard us because we were really loud.

It was so cool. Basketball moves really fast and when the players were taking a break all these beautiful girls danced and cheered. I liked the ones with the pom-poms the best. I have pom-poms just like theirs! Next time, I'm going to have to bring them so I can show them that we're the same! Last year we went with some friends to watch a Longhorn football game. It was cool but the players took a lot more breaks.

My First Sleepover!

Ok, so this weekend was awesome! Saturday night I got to stay over at my friend Sydney’s house. We had such a blast! First Sydney’s mommy and daddy took us to our friend Mia’s birthday party at Going Bananas and then we all headed back to Sydney’s house for some serious partying!! It was great. I got to sleep in Sydney’s bedroom in a bed that pulled out from under Sydney’s big girl bed. It was the best time ever! Mommy and Daddy picked me up in the morning… but just between you and me, I didn't want to leave. :)

So have I told you about
Sydney? She’s my best friend. We are in the same class at school and are such good buddies that sometimes people ask if we are related. If only that were true!

That would ROCK! Sydney loves puppies too. I think she might even have more than I do. Her grandma often brings her puppies when she comes over to visit. We love to play dress-up together. One time mommy and I met up with Sydney and her mommy at Target and we both walked around the store dressed as Ariel. It was great! Our dress-up dresses shimmered as if we were real mermaids.

Puppy Update!

A new puppy has joined my collection. And her name is....

Genevieve!

She's a beautiful yellow lab just like in the Madeline story. She's so soft and now she has to go with me everywhere!

Oodle the Poodle

So I've got a poodle named Oodle. She's a great poodle. She is pink, loves to snuggle, and is great at telling the other puppies not to lick me. She really likes to play Shoots and Ladders with me and mommy and daddy. Sometimes she has trouble spinning the wheel or moving her piece but I try to help her. Sometimes she gets so excited that she knocks me over (no wait, that's Max that does that). I've actually got lots of puppies. I've listed some of them below:

Oodle is a pink poodle
Maxie looks just like my big dog Max
Big Black Dog is a big black and brown dog
Bat is covered in little red hearts
Hearty kind of looks like a hot dog
Scotty is a little black dog that talks with an accent
The twins don't have names but they are tan with fuzzy hair

Sometimes in the morning I go and watch Sesame Street in Mommy and Daddy's bed and all my puppies have to come with me. If I miss one they just whine and whine until I get mommy or daddy to go and get them. What silly dogs!

My Big Girl Bed!

Ok... so now that you know who I am, I've got to tell you of my newest adventure. So I really feel like I'm getting too big for my crib. While I love my crib I feel like it is time for me to stretch out and try something new. I talked to mommy and daddy and they agreed so I'm moving into a big girl bed! Last weekend we went out and they bought me a new bed! Mommy and daddy decided that it would be fun to paint it and I went with mommy to pick out the paint color. I chose a pretty pink (my mom says it is dusty rose) color that reminded me of my favorite nightgown. To get it ready, Daddy and I sanded the bed. I was really good at it, but I got this powdery stuff all over me. I looked like I had been rolling around in the dirt. Then I watched while mommy and daddy painted the bed, but I was not allowed to touch the paint. I did get it in my hair and on my shirt but hey, I was dancing and trying to ride my tricycle while they were painting and sometimes the bed got in my way! Well it looks so pretty.

So on Monday night we finally got it up in my room. I love it! There is room for all my puppies and still room for me! They do like to jump off the bed more often then they jumped out of my crib so I've been having to talk to them about staying on the bed. It was so great sleeping in my bed and I fell asleep right away. I remember mommy coming in during the night to check on me and she changed my position. I liked to sleep all over the place in my crib, but I guess in a big girl bed you're supposed to keep your head at the top. During the night I found out why... I was asleep and then all of a sudden I was awake and laying on the floor. It was very strange. I felt fine but couldn't understand how I got there. My mommy came in to check on me right as I was climbing back in bed and it was then when I realized that I had fallen out of my bed. Oops!! Somehow she knew exactly what had happened.

Even though I fell out of bed my first night I love it! I want to go up to my room all the time so I can play in my bed. I love that mommy or daddy can lay with me as they read to me. I really am getting to be a big girl!

Welcome to my blog!

Hi, my name is Amelia Eleanor. I'm three years old and this blog is to chronicle all of my great adventures. I live in Austin Texas with my mom, dad, dog Max, three cats, and one fish. I'm really lucky that I live down the street from my Auntie and Uncle and their twin babies. They are so awesome! I love to give them kisses...

So anyway, I hope you enjoy reading about my adventures. I'll try to post some photos of anything I find REALLY important. I might need to have my mom help.
